Twice at the end of the season, play them in the CT, lose, play both exhibition games against them (not sure if you can do this, if not, only play 1 exhibition), but that is 4 or 5 in a row.

You can't play an exhibition game against someone who you play in the season.

Am I missing something that is right in front of my face or have I just not experienced this or seen this in the two years I have been playing HD? I have never seen a team play the same team in back to back regular season conference games. I have seen a situation where a team will play its regular season finale and its first CT game against the same team, but NEVER back to back REGULAR SEASON GAMES!

Yeah it happens a lot, just like having the last 2 days off of conference play happens way too often.

What about back to back to end the season, lose your first round game against that same team and somehow meet them again in the NT/PIT before losing. And then play them the first two games of the following season assuming you aren't counting exhibitions.
