UPDATE:
Hauser has been a pleasant surprise so far.
As a rookie callup, he hit .287/.355/.502 in 209 ABs with 10 HRs and 48 RBIs as a pinch hitter and occasional starter against RHPs.
Now in his second season, he's hit his way into the regular lineup. With 26 games to play he's hitting .321/.370/.533 in 480 ABs with 22 HRs and 87 RBIs. His splits are .321/.374/.544 against RHPs, and .321/.364/.534 against LHPs.
His career OPS after about 750 PAs is now .903. At that rate he'll probably never make an HBD All Star game as a 1B, but he's still a bona fide regular and can expect to keep playing even after he hits arbitration. So far the young man from West Greenwich, RI gets a big thumbs up.
