Even though this thread should have died, face down in the gutter in a pile of it's own vomit ages ago, I'm just going to throw in my 2.5 cents.
Guys whose only BL level ratings are power and eye, shouldn't hit at the pace they had been. swamp, sorry man but you were riding a flaw in the game.
However, guys with 80/90/75/80/80 type hitter ratings should not be seeing sub .500 slg %s IMHO. Some purists might like the small ball, and I'd agree that defense and even bunting should be a bigger part of the game, but I want my big power guys, who can actually hit, knocking out the long balls. 20 HRs from my studs just doesn't excite me. 40-50 taters should be a reasonable expectation.
I don't know what formula they use but wouldn't correlating the ratings to HR per AB make sense? 1 HR every 10 ABs for a 100 power rated guy seems about right, correspondingly, the ratio drops as the power rating drops.
As for building teams, padna's bang on. The more 70+ ratings across all rankings the better. Seems to me a hitter who's 70/70/70/70/70 and can play defense is more valuable than a 1B with 50/90/50/50/60.
