I got the backup message and proceeded with several evals (20 so far). The recruit hasn't come down yet and now I'm getting messages like "if other schools don't call I'd consider you". That's not the exact message but you get the drift. I had the message about the uncle saying he liked us and thought it wouldn't be long. Has anyone else had this happen to them? I'm a C+ prestige and I'm going after a top 200 PG if that helps.

Getting a ranked PG to drop can be very difficult, even for an A prestige. I've seen seasons where only 1 or 2 ranked PGs signed with D2.

As long as you're receiving encouraging messages, you have a chance.

EITHER:

1)It will take more money;

2) You've spent enough and he'll drop down later;

3) He won't drop at all. Sometimes they don't, even if you get the backup message

Usually mean another school (possibly a div II pulling down, or a div I doing minor effort to try to get him considering him as a back up, but not quite enough) is recruiting him. I've had this happen plenty of times where I had to do over 30 evals sometimes even more because of that.

That's what happened furry. Another school was on him and he started considering that school this last cycle. Oh well, so much for putting most of your eggs in one basket.

Yea, with everyone and there mommies using pull downs it happens more times then not. If you do over 10-15 evals and they are still undecided, odds are someone else is doing the same. You gotta decide then to go all in, back off, or go slowly and see if you can get on him before someone else does without blowing your whole load trying to out beat him. I usually go all in and 90% of the time it scares the other pull down coach off when I show up first. If it is a div I coach and you go all in then your SOL, because even if you are on him its not going to scare him off.

Yea being a C+ prestige school trying to pull down that good of a player is tough, I'm surprised he even listed you as a back-up with that prestige (Obviously nothing against you as a coach or recruiter). He probably dropped down to the other school first if they had higher prestige, allowing them to empty the bank on him.

Is it basically recruiting a better-level player who has not yet considered a school, and hoping he'll drop to you?

I'm in DIII in Phelan at Hood and have been recruiting all DIII players. We've only got C+ prestige. Should I be searching for some pull downs as we approach signings?
