Is there a penalty for players that want to transfer from your program. He is a a player I inherited from picking up the team. Below is the email he sent me.

"Coach, I'm really expecting that one of two things will happen over the next couple of games - I'll either get the playing time I asked for or I'll be looking for another program. Your move."

The truth of the matter is that I will be better off without him with the extra schollie, however do I take a hit in reputation/loyalty?

If its just standard minutes griping rather than a promise, I've never noticed such a penalty.

If you did not recruit him there should be no penalty. I'm pretty sure any promises don't transfer over to a new coach. Just let him go and it shouldn't be any worse than rescinding his schollie before recruiting seeing as you did not sign him.

If you're talking about Joseph Shook, being a crappy Junior, I'd hope he transfers. If not I would rescind his schollie anyways after the year. Personally I would have already done that to start the year, along with Michael Causey just to be able to start building a solid program.
