So, I targeted a D2 prospect with my D3 team (A- prestige) and was listed as a backup. During that cycle, however, a good D2 team jumped on him. This was yesterday. Now, I just got an email telling me to give him a call even though he's been considering them the entire time.

Does that mean I have a legit chance, or does it just mean he dropped? I would really like to get him, but I don't think I have the resources to outright battle a D2 team.

That's just a notification to you that he has dropped. It doesn't mean he is leaning anymore toward your team, but does indicate that he would accept your recruiting efforts and you could sign him if you spent enough. But since he's considering a DII school, I'd move on.

It is hard to battle a D2 team from D3, though people like BillyG have made a practice out of it. However, I think he is the exception to the rule. I would follow-up with the player and put some effort into him, but be wary of that D2 coach jumping back in. If he does, get out.

Oh...I guess I read the above to mean that the D2 team had dropped off of the considering list. Yeah, Fussy is right, you might want to watch out then and back away.

Yeah, that's what I was planning, I was just confused why he would tell me to call him even though he's got a D2, A prestige school on him. Thanks guys.

Wait tell after signings to see if it just a backup for the d2 team if it is then you may be able to snag him

Good advice, elvis, thanks. I was planning on holding off until after signings anyway, so I'll do that. Hadn't thought of that, although I probably should have...
