How does it affect your image in the eyes of a recruit if you withdraw a scholarship offer.

He has not yet responded to the scholarship offer...so I am guessing he has not yet heard of it. If I withdraw it now...will it be like I never offered it? or will he see that I offered and rescinded...and damage his image of our school?

Players won't accept a scholarship offer until signing. If you want the guy then leave the offer on the table.

I'm assuming he's interested in pulling the scholarship offer for a reason...Maybe has decided he likes the guy more as a backup option and wants to take a shot at someone else first?

correct mlotjb ..... just so you know. I did pull the offer before he responded and he went from considering me to undecided.

the effect is negative, but not overwhelming - it depends on how much effort you have put into the kid and whether he is just barely considering you or solidly committed - think of it as losing a few effort "points"

it is my impression that it becomes more of a negative if he doesnt have an offer on the table for a few cycles

so, if the guy becomes your backup plan and does still consider you after you pull the schollie at some point he will look elsewhere, and he will immediately become more receptive to other schools.....which makes sense, right?
