Playing SG as SF Topic

This has nothing to do with my current roster. Rather I am questioning the fact that LP/Reb are ignored and not part taken into account for PG/SG within the HD game.

But what if you are playing a SG as a SF? Is their LP/Reb skills still ignored or do they come into play?

What matters is the position they play. When a SG plays SF his LP does play a part, just as if he were a natural SF. Now, where did you get the idea that a SG or PG Reb. doesn't come into play? It does. It may not be as important as if he were a C or PF but it still makes a difference...

bdixon it actually doesn't have an effect really from what I have learned. That is something being added into the new engine in the beta. They want to make it so LP for PG/SG actually matters as opposed now.

Right now I think if a PG has 40 LP or 1 LP it doesn't really effect him, although I could be wrong, others that are more experienced might know more. I just assume this though since it is a big part of what the new engine will take into account with players.

Bdixon is correct. Currently, LP does not matter only if the player is playing PG or SG. If a PG or SG plays SF then it matters. Rebounding always matters.

What is changing in the new engine is the way LP works. Right now LP means playing with your back to the basket. With the new engine, LP will mean ability to score in the paint.

Reb is not ignored for guards. And from what I understand is that if you play a PG or SG at SF their LP will be taken into account, however I've yet to see a PG or SG with more than 30ish LP.

Thanks for correcting me on my misconception regarding Reb and clarifying the impact of LP depending upon position they play. As always you guys are a great help.

Rebounding at SG can be very helpful, especially if the big guys aren't the best rebounders. I think that rebounding in a PG can be helpful, but less so than in a SG. Does anyone else feel that way?

I would agree, though I have not seen PG's with Reb ratings as good as some SG's who I've seen with 20-30 reb and who get a nice 2-3 rpg.

Aside: I played an SG at SF every game last season in D-II Rupp and he made 1st team All Conf as an SG.

I just compared my 2 SGs, one with 18 RB and one with 42 RB. On a rebound per full game, it looks like the diff between 18 and 42 RB in a SG is about 1 RB per game. Not very scientific, but that seems to be the way it feels. Some guards with a 2 RB still get 1 a game just by quickness and long rebounds.

For the aside, yes, I believe that's a "glitch" in the game. Maybe they'll fix that in the next release too.
