Simmy is sitting on a kid I want. I assume the kid has been considering them for multiple days now. Tonight is signing day. I've got enough money for 7 home visits, a scholly, and a minutes promise. Simmy is 538 miles away from recruit. Could I knock them off?

You haven't given enough information.

Simmy's distance doesn't matter. What matters is how many open schollys they have, what is their prestige and what is yours? Also, I am assuming this is DIII.

Even still, the only way to know for sure is to try. Taking a walkon is not bad, if it doesn't work out.

With 6 openings (hence a fair bit of recruiting effort available to him), it isn't likely that you would be able to beat him with 7 HV and minutes. But if you lose, it is only one walk-on.
