low post Passing in the triangle Topic

Question: I've heard here and there that "passing" works by having the engine total up all the passing ratings on the court, and using that number to determine how effectively the ball is moved via the pass. That is, doesn't matter if you have 2 100s and 3 0s, or 5 40s. Is this just a forum fact?
Note -- the more I post on the forums, the clearer it becomes that I don't know what I'm doing...

Good question jeff. I would assume that it does matter how the passing ratings are allocated. 5 star centers with very high PA ratings don't get as many assists as a comparable PG. I would want the PA split heavily weighted to the guard position and players with low distro. If they have low distro, they should be passing more, right?

That's the question, isn't it? Obviously, there will be more assists on average from the PG position regardless of passing ratings. But my question is, does the distro matter? Or is there just a "team passing" rating that gets used for every possession, depending who's on the court?

Just asking, what is the turnover factor is center's passing ability. Often times you see centers with over 2.5 turnovers per game? Would it hurt to put 11 minutes into passing, this way he can improve, still hit his max potential.

In the past, before the potential implementation, I almost never tried to improve passing with centers, however since the change and all other categories eventually max out, I figured it's worth a shot
to's have very little to do with passing if distro is low, when distro is high, to's go up with bad passing and bad IQ. but to's go up with 100 pa guards with high distro also.

i max out eveything with my players that I can, including passing, and i did both b4 and after potential, there is just a little less flexibility with practice since potential has been implemented.

but I neither recruit differently nor practice differently for triangle or flex.

I understand how the other offenses work in theory. Besides stamina and speen for FB, does anyone feel that there are specific attributes that work better in flex vs. motion vs. triangle?

Never played FB, but out of the other three, I feel that Flex rewards good passing at all positions the most.

I suppose the question would be what part of passing the rating actually affects -- just the throwing of the ball? Or would a lower passing rating affect you catching the pass as well? Or does that fall into ball handling?

I have a suspiscion, but no proof, that it is actually a combination of both of your ideas, jeff...that there is a communal passer rating for the lineups on the court that aids the teams' passing as a whole, but that at the same time, the actual action is still driven primarily by the individual rating.
