I'm with you. I find pitchers with acceptable splits, control, pitches(in no particular order). Then I'll look at GB/FB and velocity if some of them are similar. There's no way on earth I look at a good pitcher and say "Whoa! Wait just a cotton-pickin' minute. That dude has a 37 velocity and 41 GB/FB!!"

One more thing you need to be aware of is this:

Look at projections, but also current ratings. Your projections will be off on the high side, as others have said, and you can use current ratings as something of a guide to how far short of projected ratings a player will fall...

The older a player is, the less he will progress as a professional, and so college seniors need to start considerably closer to their projections than HS players, and so on. If your gut tells you that a players will fall way short of projections, you're probably right.

Always manually rank your players. NEVER EVER trust the draft list that comes from settings alone.

For pitchers, Control, Splits and Pitches. <--- I'll take a 60 control 100 vsR guy way before a 100 control 60vsR guy. Also, Durability and Stamina are important here

For hitters, Eye, Splits, Power, Contact. VsR is>>> than vsL. Also, I'd rather have a 100 contact/ 50vsL guy than a 50 contact/ 100 vsL guy, but your mileage may vary.

In those orders.

Rough estimates for IP by a pitcher [(DUR/100)*150]*(STA/13.5)

Rough Estimate for PAs by a Hitter (DUR/100)*700

Projections will most likely never be reached. Close sometimes depending on scouting, but rarely, rarely reached. Not true at all. Makeup has a HUGE impact on this.

So, my RP with 26 stamina and 72 durability should be able to pitch 208 Innnings? He's a slacker because I can only get 95 out of him.

Don't forget to look at the ballpark you are playing in either. That can also help you in determining what kind of players you want to build with.
