Will guys accept less than what they're looking for? It seems every time I offer less than the asking price they tell me to go F myself. Will they ever relent? Or will they refuse to sign for anything less than what they seek?

if no one makes them an offer or signs them, they should lower their demands.

Hmm. So that's the gamble I take in not meeting their initial demands I guess? Taking the chance that someone would offer them that, they'll sign and I won't get to negotiate at what I think is a fairer price?

I have had guys sign for less than they was asking for. It has to be near the end of FA and you can't low ball them too much.

if their demands aren't budging by the second or third day of FA, someone is probably making an offer to that FA.

Near the end of FA, you can typically offer a shorter contract then they are asking for, but the $ per season have to be pretty much what they are asking.
