I've read that if you win in arb against a player, that player can become "mad" and is more likely to leave for FA after the 3 years of Arb are up...how much of a factor is this?

If it's true, then with your stud players do you tend to just agree to their arb demands (if their LT contract demands are not reasonable)?

Or is the above scenario mitigated by factors such as Makeup, Patience, Temper?

I try to save a few bucks in arb, but if you lowball too much you're gonna lose arb anyway. If you arb a guy 3 times, he's probably going to leave anyway. I usually arb twice then sign LT. Never had a problem with any player doing it this way, regardless of the disposition of any previous arbs.

agree with torrone, I usually arb twice and then sign him long term if he is worth keeping, or I dont have a player coming up behind him ready to take his place.

Dont forget, if you dont want the guy, release him. Or it will automatically sign him to the astronomical amount he's asking for.

no, it'll offer him 70% of his demands on your behalf, then arbitrate normally.

i generally meet the demands of players that i know i'll want to re-sign after their initial FA contract runs out.
