Not the way you are thinking. . . .

I just scored a recruit at Weber St (C). I battled Illinois (A+). Anyone ever do any better?

i had a considerable distance advantage, but it still took 96 CVs to bring him home.

Nice, polo!

But my first reaction, honestly, was how stupid it is that you can offer 96 campus visits.

I'm sure no one will agree, but maybe there is a better way to recruit?

You can't limit the amount of visits schools can offer. Doing that would only make the higher prestiges more powerful. As has been said before, just because it is real life doesn't mean it is good for HD.

Go Weber State!!!

Do you have any more details for us polo? What was the distance? You must have been at least 300 + miles away each?

Polo had a considerable distance advantage. Im thinking 150 and 1000.

He was using Campus Visits though, which would make me assume that he had to have been further then 320 (60? wherever that big jump in price is).

his were 1400, mine were 800

even with the advantage and the amount i spent. it was still as close as could be....

i was leading at the time of signings. and i think we were both out of money. but it still took a day and a half for the guy to commit. which means it was super close as far as where he went....

So that means you were about less then 300 miles away?

How does this make the higher prestige schools more powerful? I'm not saying this is what WIS should do, but both teams would have the same number of maximum campus visits so it all comes down to distance and cost.

If everyone is limited to, say, 10 HVs and 5 CVs, then both schools competing for a recruit would buy those HVs and CVs, and the higher prestige team would win. In Polo's case, the limit would have to be set at something like 96 CVs. Otherwise, Illinois would have won.

Distance and cost are the same thing, ap. So it would be cost and prestige. I do think it's very clear that if visits were capped and you couldn't try to "out effort" another coach, that would make prestige significantly more important in recruiting. You may think that's good or bad, but it is factual.
