I don't know the guy, but find it interesting that his team is 7-0 this season and is 8 wins away from becoming Wooden's first 1000 game winner....there should be some kind of forum celebration when he hits it....don't you think?

I can't look at Wooden to check the other coaches and where they stand. 1000 wins is pretty impressive, but I also must say that staying at D2 disqualifies him in my mind. Moving up into D1 where the talent of coaches is higher and you have to work your way through a bad D1 program before getting to a power conference is more impressive.

Not saying its not nothing, but just gotta say sticking at a D2 powerhouse is easier than moving up and getting a winning program at D1 going.

I understand where you're coming from....but I know in the real world...even though it is not quite as big a deal....there is hoopla given to guys like the coach at Northern State SD (Don Meyer), who has the second most wins for an active coach in NCAA history...

I think it deserves some special recognition......granted, if a DI coach ever got to that milestone, it should be spotlighted even more...

Remember the football coach from Grambling? can't remember his name...but was given national recognition for his wins at IAA.

In 41 seasons in Tark we have 2 coaches over 1000 wins. DCY0827 is at 1054 after 25 games in season 42

The most impressive though is oldresorter as he is at 1028 but is in D1 since like season 8.

Anytime a coach gets to 1,000 wins in one world it's an accomplishment.

Northern State's Don Meyer has surpassed Bobby Knight as the winningest coach ever. Some of his wins came at NAIA Lipscomb before he led them into NCAA D1. He said, "I'm a small college coach. That means when you're on the road in hotels, you take the soap."

oldave (Iba DIII) at Suny Oneonta has 999 wins. He could get his 1,000 tonight in the Sweet 16. Unfortunately, I have to play his squad in that game.

fobermeyer and vandydave should both hit 1,000 wins this season in Smith. Both have all their wins in DIII, but as jfinn already said, 1,000 in one world is always an accomplishment.

Well congratulations to all who will hit that milestone. Very impressive. I think anytime someone notices a team topping that milestone...it should be noted and celebrated.

alblack ... - I am a very big Don Meyer fan. I got to meet him at a convention a couple of years ago. He is a very interesting guy. We are very happy to have him coaching in South Dakota.
