Age does not matter in the selection of type a or type b free agents, but it certainly matters on whether or not they will actually be signed by someone during free agency period, giving you the compensation. Unless the player is an absolute stud, im probably not signing a type a free agent who is 38. This only factors into type a free agents, because I dont lose anything for signing a type b free agent therefore would be less picky.
