Simmy says... It's a longshot, and if you get it your loyalty will take a hit. WTF is that? Good idea? Bad idea?

His other response is: "If you get it questions about your loyalty would swirl, plus its a big IF"

I don't care about my loyalty rating, but what exactly are these messages saying?

Loyalty means nothing except you won't be able to change jobs for a few seasons.

Keep looking really isn't that much different than longshot. Odds are you can't get the job anyway.

I know what loyalty means. As I said, I don't care about it. Just wondering why I am qualified for jobs above my current school's prestige, but a job with the same prestige as my current school is listed as "keep looking" is it just the conference (ACC)?

Your schools prestige and other schools prestiges are not taken into account in the job selection or qualification process, nor should they be.

Each school has a baseline minimum qualification. If you are talking about Georgia Tech, their baseline prestige is a B so they are likely looking for more success out of you. while you have made the post-season the last 4 years, the lack of wins in the post-seasson is what is holding you back from this type of job.

Basically, keep looking means that it is both "longshot" and "step backwards."

So, you probably wouldn't get it if you apply, and will take a big loyalty hit if you do get it.

I doubt he'd take a loyalty hit in this case, but perhaps. Either way, loyalty hits rarely matter as they build up by the time you move on anyway.
