Post Season Accolades Topic

Just wanted to see if anyone could give me an idea of how different post season awards can help your prestige or reputation. For example, what is a regular season conf championship worth or a conf tournament championship. Where does conf coach of the year come in on the list and approximately how much does a pit birth compare to nt birth. Would it be fair to say that a pit final four loss would be equivalent to a nt first round loss? Does having guys make 1st team all conf etc. or getting conf player of year or freshmen of year help your prestige or reputation at all? Thanks for any insight!

A long time ago, TK (the original Admin) said that there is a coach rating (hidden from view) that has a minor impact on team prestige. Winning CCOY has a small impact on the coach rating as does NCOY. That's about it in terms of anything outside of wins and NT success. Any All-Conference/All-American players and any awards they win are only good for bragging rights.

Winning the Conference CT gets you an automatic bid to the NT and some coaches claim it also helps you get a higher seed. Regarding the PIT, I was in a conference once where a coach won the PIT and dropped from exceeding expectations to boosters complaining. Suffice it to say that whether the cutoff is FF or championship, it doesn't do much for you (except earn your conference some additional money).

Other coaches may have a better handle on these things but that is my understanding of the relative values.
