At the end of the day, we're all seeking results.

Am I exasperated when a 44/77/53/50/68 outperforms my 66/78/54/61/72? A little. But if the first guy is producing the numbers I expected from the position, I don't worry too much about the 2nd guy.

If you flip a coin ten thousand times, you might see a run of ten or fifteen heads in a row at some point. The coin hasn't been "programmed" to do that. It's the law of large numbers at play.

Maybe your entire league sucks. Maybe you only pitch him against bad teams. Regardless, I will never have a guy like that perform because the 1 out of a 1000 chances of him doing anything close to that aren't worth it. So you found the needle in the haystack. Congrats.

I think there may be something to Nickle - he's got incredible control and an incredible first pitch. perhaps that combo can lead to success despite average other ratings?

My player is not that bad, fair-below average splits, and had a great year last year. 15 wins 2.45 ERA, 2 runs under his normal average. I am an optimist, I know he will be back to "normal" this year. He even got 7 Votes for Cy Young...Now that to me is surprising. But what goes up, must come down..enjoy it while it last.

i think hartjh14 might be onto something here...52.1 of his 87 IP so far this year have come against 4 teams (Juggernaut, Gargamels, Apocalypse, and Sabertooth)...their combined record is 112-180 (.384)...one team i looked at had a guy with a 14 eye leading off...zbrent, burkett blows and despite your defense or competition he is still getting lucky to put up the numbers he has so far...continue to run him out there at your own peril
