Promising Minutes/Starts Topic

In the process of trying to pull down a recruit I offered him 15 minutes and a starting spot. However when I offered those to him he wasn't interested and he rejected them. I finally got him to sign but do I have to come through on those promises or since he rejected them am I off the hook?

If he rejected them, you should be off the hook. After recruiting ends, check your roster page to see if he has a hockey stick looking thing to the right of your name in the "recruited by" column

What is to total value of promising only 5 min to a recruit? I can't imagine it would be much, but if I know the recruit is going to play it might be worth it

In this case, the player rejected the promises the first time (he was not considering me), then once he was considering me, the promises were re-offered and he accepted. if you do not see "
guaranteed minutes - (15)$10
" you are ok

no i know that, I'm not that new lol. I meant the value of promising minutes. I know $10 spent promising minutes or a start is obviously worth more than a $10 phone call. I'm pretty sure someone made a list somewhere of the values of promised minutes and starts, I just can't seem to find it. I just want to know how much each promised minute value (5,10,15) is worth to a recruit.

you cant promise 5 mins

you can promise 10 mins

its value appears to be modest - some folks say about the same as a home visit - maybe a bit more......

It also depends on the school doing the promising. A promise from a high prestige school carries more weight than the same promise from a lower prestige school.

ryan - that was an example for basketnarb to see, so he could decide if the minutes promise was accepted or not. In my case, the minutes were initially declined, but were later accepted (after I offered a second time). In my case, I need to honor the promises (start + 15 minutes). In basketnarb's case, if he does not have the seond offering, he does not need to honor promises.

Does it make any difference if you have offered 10 mins and then a cycle later you offer 10 mins again...does that add up to a total of 20 mins or could it just get annoying like too many phone calls.

What does happen here? I assumed it was like GD and he would only accept one...but neither my 10 or 15 seem to be declined...

Thanks!

If you promise 10 and then 10 again, that still equals 10. If you want to promise 20, that's what the "20" button is for. And owen, if you promise 10 and then promise 15, then 15 it is.

Excellent... that is how I intended it. Thanks dalter! Had a bit of scare thinking I was committed to 25!
