I've got a pitcher in the minors that is zero'd out on fatigue and even though I've inactivated him to let him rest for at least the last five games he's still zero'd out. What's going on? Thanks for any help.

If you'd abused him prior to making him inactive, he won't recover for a very long time.

I'm guessing you had him pitch in a number of games when he was already at zero? What is going on is that you've probably killed him (and hurt his development) for a good chunk of the season.

and if he played anytime at a POS other then P, it kills him too, he will be ZERO longer the longer he played at other positions

I check my minors a couple of times a day so it he was abused it happened in very short order. How could it have occured?

He may have been forced into duty as a position player.

Pitchers don't take that well.

Can you link the player in question?

Nevermind, found him.

Alberto Osuna

He's a 48 dur/39 sta guy.

You had him pitch in relief 3 games in a row, (2/14 PM2; 2/15 AM; 2/15 PM) and had him log 50 pitches in game 1 (starting at 100%), 126 pitches in game 2 (starting at 80%); and 255 pitches in game 3 (starting at 0%).

So what's going on is that he isn't a workhorse to begin with and he was heavily used/abused over a very short period of time. And yes, having a 39 Sta pitcher throw 255 pitches at 0% constitutes abuse.

I once saw a similar player on an abandoned team take ~75 games to begin recovering - and then it was 0(1), 1(2) for a long time.

Was he the only active pitcher at High-A? How did you not realize he pitched 255 pitches in a game? Do you not check ML boxscores?

It looks like someone neglected to set his pitch count.

that 255 pitch day after the 126 the game before will take him at least a few weeks to recover form. Dont count on him again anytime soon.

"Stop whining Osuna!

Why, when I played, 400 pitches in 2 days was nothing. Get out there!"

This was the 3rd game, a 30-3 loss:

Osuna gave up 13 in the 6th, one of several bad innings. Wonder if the pitching coach at some point said, "Osuna doesn't look so good today. Let's bring in Morgan," and the bench coach retorted, "Nah, Albie's only at 150 pitches. He's fine."

"He needs to learn how to get himself out of jams!"

Grady Little must have been managing the team.
