More proof firings are broken Topic

So I'm up late enough to see the firings in Knight. More accurately, the one single firing at W. Virginia.

Making this clear, treadw may not have gone gangbusters at WVU, but he was two seasons removed from back-to-back trips to the PI, so it's not like he did NOTHING, even though this past season's 6-21 record was horrible.

Meanwhile, at Oklahoma State, mad4oasis has been there 8 seasons. Only one has been above .500, and that was a 14-13 mark in season 21. In fact, that's the only season he won more than 10 games, and he didn't even make the postseason. He kept his job despite a 9-19 season.

I get there are bigger problems to fix. But in the next engine, this is one issue I hope they get around to clearing up.

I'm all for a better firing logic. Been fired, maybe will be again sometime, but it does take too much for some coaches to get fired in the larger conferences due to conference prestige on the whole and a higher likelyhood of postseason due to conference RPIs. A tighter logic would mean more openings in the Big 6 schools and that is a good thing to keep and bring in new coaches.

Actually, I woudl think that a higher conference prestige shoudl make firing MORE likely.

Also, tread raised his team's prestige to B- for the past two seasons(currently C+) while mad4 lowered his team's prestige from a B when he started to a C- at one point(currently C).

With all due respect to flyers (Stanford), I expected to see a firing there.

Firing is good in terms of opening up Big 6 jobs for others, but bad for retaining customers (potentially), since a D1 firing usually drops you all the way back down to D2. I think if you're fired, you should still be eligible for at least a D- D1 job, especially when there are 100+ D1 jobs under Sim AI control.

Agreed, if your fired from a D1 conference with B- or higher prestige then you drop down to a D/D- job in D1 if your conference prestige is below the B- then your kicked back to D2.

There were a few schools I wouldn't have been shocked to see firings at. West Virginia wasn't one of them. I'd figured Oklahoma State for sure (and again, this is with all due respect to the coaches involved), and there were others I put as more likely to make a change than WVU.

only for the "also rans" of that conference, guys trying to bring up a c- school in conference of a's and b's. It seems like the harder the rebuild the easier it is to get fired.

mad4oasis WAS fired from OSU--two seasons ago. Somehow he talked his way back into the job or something--he was restored to the job during the jobs period and he has been there ever since.
