Just wanted to ask a few quick questions to anybody who has used the HBD Mentor program since it started at the end of 2008.

1) How has it worked for you? Have you found it useful, or have you found that you get better information through other means, such as via forum posts?

2) Are there any changes or recommendations that you might suggest as to how to make the program work better?

Please note:I would really prefer to not have any specific Mentors named in any of your responses to this thread, either positive or negative. If you've had a bad experience with a particular Mentor, please send me some feedback about that person via sitemail. I do not want to see this thread turn into a flame-fest against anybody, and I'll probably quickly redline any responses that attempt to start one. But if there are problems, I'd like to know about it.

Also, if anybody would like to be added (or removed) from the mentor list, please let me know and I will collect names so that the list can be updated.

I found it critical in the first 2 months I played. After that, I found that my questions became sufficiently complicated that I needed to post in the forums to get a half dozen responses in order to get the variety of opinion I needed. But it's absolutely vital at the very outset, when you have no idea what you're doing, and you have a ton of basic questions that require accurate, specific answers.

It worked great for me. I posted some questions to the forums, but the more specific "what do you think about this player" and "what do you think about this strategy" were nice to have answered by someone I know is good at the game.

I wouldn't really change a thing about it from what I went through.

Will do. I'll probably submit a ticket to update the mentor list in around a week, after I gather up all the names that need to be added/removed.

Add my name too. I am already doing it informally with a couple of owners. Might as well make it formal.

I thought it was fairly useful.....1 or 2 of my mentors never kept in touch after my first question or 2. So mainly I had to learn through reading..
