Why is it that freshman never complain about their minutes even if they never play but complain about a redshirt? It seems contradicting to me. We're supposed to believe that a player would rather dress for every game and sit at the end of the bench and only play in blowouts then get redshirted so he can presumably have 4 full years of playing time.

Does this mean you can promise a recruit X# of mins and if you dont deliver there are no repercussions?

Freshmen with no promises never complain.

Freshmen with promises do.

I had a freshman that didn't play a minute all season, refuse a redshirt after we lost in the NT. I'm not sure what game he thought he was going to play in.

I got to redshirt a sophomore with no problem this past season probably my highest rated redshirt at 496, he took it with no problems. He said he could use the extra season to work on his game.

like tanner said rcayers, if you promise minutes you have to give them minutes. But if there are no promises they will never complain about not getting minutes. It's also contradictory that it's not too hard to get sophs to take redshirts (at least at the lower levels) and yet all will complain if they aren't getting enough minutes when considering how freshman react to the minute vs. redshirt situation.
