I get stud recruits not wanting to take a redshirt. What I don't get is how on a C- prestige DI squad, a player who has 5 players at his position or adjacent position and is rated over 100+ total points worse with **** poor IQ and WE would not accept a darn redshirt. I thought the engine was supposed to make RS easier when an incoming recruit was way behind on the depth chart and in ratings of those at his position.

Could someone explain this nonsense to me.

Why didnt you inform during recruiting?

Well, first off, he's not any worse than your other freshman, so I'm sure he see's himself as a usable tool in your rotation if you run 6 forwards. but putting aside that foolishness, an eval or two would have given you some indications as to his personality. And as tanner just said, if you don't inform, you take your chances.

Just pull it off and on until he takes it or try it on your PF if you don't want the hit.

yeah i hear ya but every time i have ever told a recruit abt RS during recruiting they immediately drop my program as an option and a SIM AI picks them up asap

You need to put in additional recruiting effort in the same cycle as informing, so they will still consider you.

Also, you say that you get STUD recruits not taking a redshirt. Are you sure that you meant to say `stud recruit'? No offense, but if you are talking about Tyre, although I don't know his potential, a SG with 35 ATH / 41 SPD / 56 PE / 54 BH in DI is pretty much the exact opposite of a stud.

where on earth did you ever read that?

No, he was talking about Browne, a 547 guy. Either way, if you DID get a stud, it would be even more difficult most likely.

Just wait until after exhibition games, making sure he's not on the depth chart and a "mop-up" so he gets limited to no minutes. See if he'll take the redshirt then. It's normally worked for me even for sophomores and guys that would not take the redshirt before exhibition games. I've heard more experienced coaches saying the same thing too.

Not saying he 100% will take it, but its always worth a shot.
