1 seed vs 16 seed Topic

I think the likelihood of a #16 beating a #1 is greater in DIII than DI, but it doesnt make it feel any better.

Ouch.....by a simmy.....at the buzzer. I feel bad for professor17. You build a squad, think it maybe your year, get the #1 seed and.....BAM!

Now if only I can get jfinn to get upset, maybe I will have a shot.

That isn't a typical sim 16 seed. Team is recruited mostly by users, and the SG and SF are really good D3 players. If that team had a better schedule and was user controlled it would probably have been a top 30-40 RPI team.

I knew I was going to lose that game as soon as the draw came out, and pretty much said as much on the conference coaches corner before the game. It was a very bad matchup for our team. Plus, I consider myself to be a below average game-planner, so getting upset doesn't surprise me anymore. I seem to lose frequently with a "better" team, but rarely pull upsets myself.

This #16 seed had an RPI of 78 entering the tournament.

I looked at two RL sites that try to predict the RPIs. Both have Kansas as #1. At #78 is Minnesota and Tulsa. If either of those teams beat Kansas it would be a big upset, but not earth-shattering

Dude, bringing logic into a discussion like this isn't cool.

This is no comparasion, since my team was much weaker this year... but I lost to an #8 seed in the PIT and I was a #1. That was when I realized I needed to completely forget about thinking the seeding means anything. I still think I should have won.... but my bitterness is slowly abating. On my home floor no less... probably one very costly coaching mistake which I will try to avoid again (one player goes 1 for 11 in the game - perhaps if I just turned down his distro....)

Had a D2 team that was number 1 all season long. Won 29 straight games and was upset in the second round. That hurt so I could imagine being a 1 and losing to a 16 in the 1st round. I'm still in shock over Wake Forest losing in Naismith.

Having played in a conference with you before (I guess it was under my emy ID, now that I think about it) in Rupp and having faced you in non-conference games and NT games in different worlds, I will go ahead and say that this statement just isn't even close to being accurate. Don't sell yourself short Professor, I HATED facing your teams.........
