When do promises have to be filled? Topic

Sorry but I can't remember the answer to this. Is it after regular season, conference tourney, or national/player tournaments?

After the NT, but if you haven't by the CT, you are going to have issues.

Not exactly doubting you doomey but asking for a second opinion.

I know I've read on this board that in the NT you don't have to honor promised starts. Is that a bunch of bunk and/or outdated?

Of the three options I gave, your answer was the one I was least expecting.

I believe doomey is correct. If I'm not mistaken, IF you have filled the promise to a recruit by the end of the CT everything is good and you do not have to worry about the NT, but if not you can make up for it, or "catch up" during the NT. BUT...like doomey said, if you haven't kept your promise by the CT you will have problems, but nothing you can't fix.

In the CT is when you are fine. Right before the CT was when I'd take off the redshirt to the promise start/redshirt loop hole and bench him for the last few games and NEVER got 1 complain.

That works for starts, but minutes is a differant beast.

ive always thought you could start ignoring your promises when the CT starts

definitely don't have to honor them in the NT

They work the same way. I offer start/30 mins and never had anyone complain for either.

I just know I've gotten minutes complaints during the CT. I remember ******** in the CC about having to deal with that while trying to win the CT and make a NT run.

maybe if you have promise issues, you can correct them in the CT? i am pretty sure if you don't, you can ignore promises in the CT. ive done it plenty of times without an issue, but that really doesn't prove anything. i have cut it close in the regular season too, like skipped starting the guy in the 5 biggest games. so i think i would have had a problem after benching him for the CT/NT.

Yeah -- I posted in large part to see if it would be possible to correct in the CT. I honestly don't think I had issues since there weren't complaints but I was running about a minute short of what I promised. I bit the bullet and got him up to speed before the season ended. But since I was likely to face Sim AI a couple times in the CT I was thinking that would be a much better opportunity to get the guy the minutes I promised.

I think you are right, gil, it won't cause problems, but it can cure them.

You can get an e-mail from something that happened earlier. It happens a lot, and the same reason a guy who didn't live up to his promises for like 4 games, but the last 8 games he has randomly complains. He is complaining about the past. Once the CT happens if he is happy you are fine. If he is upset, it don't matter if you live up to it or not, he can still complain.
