I'm sure you're right, but record and RPI aren't dispositive factors.

Are you sure Coastal Carolina got a higher seed than Wash St.? Doesn't really seem plausible.
3/8/2010 10:05 PM
Coastal Carolina is a 15, Washington State is a 16

Seems a little out of whack. At least you got in. I've seen teams in the 40's who got dissed.

Who are the other 16 seeds? I'd like to see the teams who got snubbed.

This wasn't me.

Here were the 16 Seeds. They are ordered from worst seeded to best (as they appeared on the seeding page)

Xavier (18-12, 152)
Washington St. (19-10, 43)
Quinnipiac (15-15, 207)
IPFW (20-10, 140)

So, Quinnipiac and IPFW are somehow seeded ahead of Washington St. too.

I sent a ticket in, I will let you know what they say, I was surprised to say the least ...compare Oregon and I(WSU), I had a better record, better conf. record, better RPI, more success in conf. tourney, he got an 11 I got a 16

YOu can add my team as a team that got a better seed as well. I wen't 21-7 with a 55 RPI and the #19 rated conference and didn't even make my conference championship and still got a 13 seed.

Not in Tark, what is the PAC 10's conference RPI? What is WSU's record? Record vs. top RPI? All mitigating factors. I agree it seems very low, but you haven't provided enough info.

Ok, had to do some digging, but here are some of the mitigating factors.

Didn't reach 20 wins.

Didn't win CT (yes it is too much of a hit for every school).

Losing road record.

3-12 vs top 100 RPI.

3-9 vs top 50 RPI.

CCU did get to 21 wins and won thier CT. That being said, WSU does have more top 50/100 wins and as low as the PAC 10 may be, they are damn sight better than the Big South in conference RPI. Be interesting to see what CS says, if anything.

The OSU comparison is a bit more baffling. Only thing they seem to have over you is road record and non-conf RPI (all those road games helped him alot).

There is too much weight in the conference tournament winner. I don't have a DI team but it seems like this happens to me almost every season. With my Felician team I would keep losing to cyric in the conference finals and go down 4 to 6 seeds regularly. If my RPI was 12 for example, I would get a 7 through 10 seed even though cyrics team would have an RPI of like 3 or something close to the top. To me this is nothing new and have come to expect it, and yes it sucks royally.

Is it possible they was a conference mate on the 2, 7 or 10 line and they pushed WSU down to avoid a pac-10 matchup? Just not sure how the engine works on that.
