Precise Prestige Ranking Topic

If you click on the RPI rankings page, it has a column for prestige. If you click on prestige, it sorts the teams. I am wondering, however, if the computer sorts teams by their somewhat hidden prestige value. For example, if there are 5 teams, all with a "B" prestige, is the first team listed the highest "B" there is? We know that there are differences within a prestige letter grade. Anyone know this?

Nope, it's just random. In Crum DIII, a team has played in 4 of the past 5 nat. champs(won 3) and had a final four appearance two seasons ago and they're listed below a team who hadn't made it past the 2nd round of the NT until it's past season(made it to the elite 8).

It is listed in reverse order of RPI.

It is not reverse RPI, at least not on the ones I was looking at. Random? That is as good an explanation as any, but disappointing.

Prestige is not built to be known which A is higher . It was done that way purposefully. If they wanted it to be easy to figure out what A was higher then they would have just used numbers.

the secondary sort is based on the previous primary sort.

ie.. you look at the page and switch the sort from RPI to prestige all the A+ schools will be ranked by order of the RPI.

if you resort by School name and then click on the prestige column, all A+ schools will be listed alphabetically.

Sure, but, then, why didn't they? To be mysterious?

That is not the result I get, but, then again, I'm a dumbass.

Considering that in the beginning they did not even show the prestige, yes.

Which brings me to an interesting observation. In Naismith, there are no prestiges recorded before season 20 or so for DI teams (at least the ones I looked). But DII and DIII teams have this. Anybody know why?
