On my Finlandia D3 team in Wooden--PG Samuel Johnson or SG Vincent Gay? I'd prefer to redshirt Gay but I want to minimize the risk of the player I try to redshirt not accepting it or taking a big drop in WE.
From my scouting, I know that Johnson is a model student/athlete, etc. He was unfazed when the fans were on him during a road game, etc. On one hand, this would appear to make him likely to accept a redshirt, though on the flip side he's the only PG on my roster (though I have several SGs who I can play at PG).
All I know from Gay is that he's a mediocre student on and off the court. My AD hadn't heard of him when he signed and hopes he's a good representative of the university, etc. That doesn't sound as good as for Johnson, though I have 3 SGs ahead of Gay on my roster.
Some thoughts from the veterans would be really helpful here. Thanks as always!
