lol, the fine print is like 10 pages long. that **** is hilarious. i have never seen multiple pages of fine print in a banner add :P

i think its a good concept though. if our kids can't totally focus on the mindless droning that is elementary school, lets give them stimulants! as if the 5 year olds running around hopped up on sugar and soda aren't enough. lets just skip coffee and get right to the amphetamines, mmm, thats the good stuff. meanwhile, as we watch the profits rake in off the drugs we give our kids (and the 10 pages of fine print that come with them), lets waste some more money fighting the "war" on drugs. but just the ones that don't make our businesses money, or fund political campaigns!

Vyvanse is for ADHD, which would put it in Schedule II, which means you need a prescription to get it. ADHD meds have the opposite effect on kids than it does on adults. It does not get them all hopped up, it allows them to focus and concentrate better. These meds work for the most part but some kids don't like the side effects and sometimes won't take them. The pages of fine print that comes with them is more intended for prescribers than parents/patients.

I would be more concerned with the over-prescribing of anti-biotics then ADHD/ADD meds.

Uhh...I'm going to be forced to disagree here. Of course the meds work, they're refined chemical speed. We are sorely lacking in long-term studies to see what the effects of these drugs for decades on young brains are. We could end up creating an entire generation of people with Alzheimer's or Parkinson's in their 50s and we won't know until we've done it to millions of people.

It's interesting that we didn't NEED this many kids medicated when I was a kid.

What happened to our kids in the last 10 years that so many suddenly need drugs to function?

Give your kid some St johns Wort and tell him to shut up and work harder.

you need a prescription, sure. but go to a college campus around exam time and you will find even the people who dont drink or smoke are doing it (ADHD meds, not this one in particular made for kids). why? well, thats pretty damn obvious - ITS SPEED. it lets you stay up longer, focus longer, work harder. that doesn't mean anybody should do it every day. those 10 pages of fine print aren't there because the company wants to put them there, its because there are really that many problems with it.

meanwhile, as a schedule 2 drug, we don't even allow regular people to do this drug IN MODERATION. moderation makes all the difference in the world. find me one doctor who will tell you doing heroin once a month (with a clean needle if intravenous) is going to cause you significant harm. the problem is when it becomes regular. well, if these ADHD meds aren't an acceptable "in moderation" drug, indicated by their schedule, i fail to see how the hell we give it to the kids every day. mcauley says we might create a generation with alzheimers - could be true. but we know we are creating a generation of speed addicts.

Oh drugs are bad. Hmm who woulda known

This class of drugs have been prescribed for over 20 years starting with Ritalin. There's no proof that it causes addiction to stimulants. Show me a parent that has a kid with ADHD and ask them if they don't want them on something.

Every drug ever made has 10 pages of inserts with it. Because every possible side effect, no matter how minor, that was identified during clinical trials has to be documented as well as interactions with other drugs.
