Stupid Questions Topic

I am sure i will get some wisecrack remarks from this and I am probably just not thinking. Here are two questions:

1. In the boxscore.........how can you get an odd number of points in the paint?

2. In the boxscore.........what is the difference between FBP & BP?

2- FBP is fast-break points, BP is bench points

1. you cant, if it happens then that proves that those stats are all for show.

I can't figure it out.

My last game; I had a total of 60 points:

21 PIP

12 from the 3

8 from the line

6 FBP

Total: 47

That would mean I have 13 points from 2 point range??????????????????

I think free throws in the paint do count.

Given the usage in the related NBA sim of things like assist percentage and the like, I see no reason why they wouldn't use other versions of points in the paint where things like that DO count. Because, frankly, not including free throws from fouls in the paint is utterly stupid, even if the real life one does it that way. Those are points. They are earned in the paint, by drawing fouls, usually by putting yourself in good position.
.

I also think that presuming the worst interpretation (That they are meaningless) Instead of the simpler and more likely explanation(They included free throws in the paint) is a bit unfair.

WHich is, in fact, what it looks liek is that case. I went through the play by play and added up everything that was described as an 'inside shot' and it equaled up to exactly the points in the paint it said.(With free throws included)

16 points off of shots hit in the paint and 5 points off of free throws hit from fouls in the paint.

Frankly, including the FT's makes more sense to me anyhow.

Yes, according to WIS from a question asked awhile ago FT's are included in points in the paint.

It makes sense that if you are fouled on a layup, the free throws made from that foul would be points in the paint since they results from a play in the paint.

Also that stat can't be just for show, there has to be validity to it because it's easy to track how many layups, dunks, put backs and in the lane shots have been made.
