New recruiting concept: Trip Planning Topic

In the effort of making recruiting more realistic, i havent been a big fan of the nationalized-recruiting suggestions. meanwhile, i do agree the system in place could use work to be more realistic.

one example of this; St. Mary's has, what, 5 australians on their roster? in HD, to do this, you'd have to pay a ridiculous amount of money for each trip or visit. obviously, in real life, getting the 2nd-5th australians are cheaper than getting the 1st australian. you don't have to fly down there for every single visit.

my idea: have "trip planning" for each two-hour cycle. you plan where you fly or drive to, who you visit when you're there, who you scout, etc. you can only visit a recuit once per cycle (maybe scout them a few times). obviously, the player won't accept your home visit if you haven't scouted him on *previous* cycles, and he won't come back to campus with you. for campus visits, you offer to pay for them on a home visit or phone call, then the next cycle they come by to visit campus.

each thing you do during a trip takes a certain amount of time, thus limiting what you can actually do during a cycle. having enough cash to fly instead of ride a bus obviously saves time, but costs more. perhaps you can offer to fly someone in for a campus visit, or bus them in, with flying them in being more likely to be accepted and give a higher boost.

this system would probably require less cryptic player responses and scouting reports, but that could make it more fun in some ways. when you scout a recruit, perhaps the system could let you know which schools' scouts were at the game.

i honestly just had this idea a few minutes ago, these are just the things popping into my head.

you'd also be given a play-by-play, essentially, of what happened on your last cycle's trip. example:

4:00 pm- landed at LAX
7:00 pm- scouted David Stone at his home game. blah blah scouting report blah. saw him talking to scouts from Arizona St. and USC after the game.
9:00 am- visited with David Stone and his family blah blah
11:00 am- stopped by Robinson Steele's house, nobody was home.

fine if nobody likes it i'll just go make my own simulation website and use it there...

The major problem I see is who gets the player to come to their school? If your his #1 choice do you always get the visit? some players would turn down their #1 choices campus visit to see who else is out there as well though.

I remember when I came out of high school and was looking at schools to run at on scholarship and had visits set-up I turned down a weekend to visit one school which was high on my list to visit a school which I hadn't been to and didn't really think I would want to go to. Its all about seeing all your options.

Also, how would it work about visiting the family? What if Arizona, USC, and Oregon all wanted to visit the kid at home? Would you be stuck in line and instead of 9am you would have to wait until 10 or 11am and that would push back everything else and you might miss your flight?

One further thing, they try to condense recruiting down into 32 cycles when it equates to about 24 months of recruiting time. So the time frame wouldn't exactly work. So each cycle is almost equivalent to about 1 month if not 2 weeks at least.

prestige would be the tiebreaker early on for who got to visit...and then a mix of prestige and total recruiting credit determining after that.

it would make it more difficult for A+ schools to come in late and poach recruits from A/B schools, but would also give A+ schools the advantage in getting the jump on the recruits they wanted.

in terms of # of cycles, it may have to be reduced (to account for the extra work going into trip planning). comparing the months to cycles could be done with a lot of freedom, as in whatif world 24 months doesn't need to be your total recruiting time.
