I've heard a couple places there might be a bonus in recruiting if a recruit is with 70 miles of your school? I was wondering if this is really true or just a forum fact?

It is sometimes true that within 70 miles you can talk to D2 players immediately as a D3 team or D1 players if you are a D2 school.

Exactly. It sometimes gives you the opportunity to talk to players that wouldn't talk to you if they were farther away.

I've heard 60. Is 70 the correct number?

the distance numbers are rounded a bit. I think 60 miles will always fall into the "local recruit" and be receptive of your efforts.

I've seen a few different results with those listed at 70. Sometimes they're local, and sometimes they're not.

The same rounding takes place for recruiting costs. Sometimes a recruit 360 miles away will cost about $450 for a home visit and sometimes a recruit also listed at 360 will cost closer to $750. It depends on whether it was 358 miles and rounded up, or 362 and rounded down.

I never got this. Why don't they either use the rounded numbers in recruiting costs, or show the actual non-rounded numbers on the search screen. Not a huge deal, but not logical either.

I'm looking to talk to a D2 recruit as a D3 A+ team. He is 70 miles away. He's not an elite D2 prospect. Will he accept my recruiting efforts right away?

Really, it depends. He is more likely to being 70 miles away versus 100 miles away, but the only way to know for sure is to call him or his coach when recruiting begins.

If the guy is ineligible, does that make him more likely to be willing to talk to a D3 school? Or just less likely to be recruited by D2 schools and so eventually willing to talk to a D3 school?
