Anybody know the shotclock rule... Topic

When a foul is committed late in the clock. For example I just played a game where my team was fouled with 2 seconds on the clock and then it took another 30 seconds before my team attempted another shot. I know the NBA has the rule that if a foul is committed with under 14 seconds on the clock the clock will be reset to 14 and not the full 24. I'm pretty sure the NCAA has a similar rule in place wherein once it gets past a certain time on the shot clock a foul will not reset the clock back to 35.

I ask this because this had a big impact on my game and probably helped me win the game my team was able to kill more than 1 minute of clock with about 1:20 in the game nursing a 1 point lead.

According the NCAA manual, Section 11 , Art. 6, b.1 ... the shot clock is to be reset after a single personal foul.

(It re-starts without a reset after double fouls or technicals where the team who had control maintains possession of the ball.)

They do reset the shot clock to 15 seconds if someone kicks a ball with less than 15 on the shot clock. (But no one kicks a ball in HD -- just like no one charges without making a basket!)

This question spurred me to discover you can download a free pdf of the rulebook here:

I see, I guess I was wrong about the reset. Thanks a bunch.
