Player 1. you could get screwed with player 2 not being signable. Plus your college projections are more likely to be accurate.

Player 1 is a stud; no reason to take a chance on #2 being not as good as the scouting says or not signing.

Agreed. Player 1 is the safer bet. He could be a tremendous CF. Player 2's ratings could be skewed, and he's probably a 3B/RF.

player 2 is not a SS... player one will make it to projections faster... my biggest problem with #1 is his speed is sort of worthless with his low BR rating...

Speed doesn't just mean SBs.....it means stretching singles to doubles, doubles to triples, going 1st to 3rd, scoring from 2nd on a single, scoring from 1st on a double. High speed, average baserunning does not mean the speed is worthless

The first guy. The scouting disparity and signability issues aside, the only real stats that would put the second guy ahead of him are overall rating, splits and durability/health.

While I tend to be a fan of high splits, overalls are relatively worthless, and the first guy is still very good for those stats which tend to inflate a player's overall. There isn't much of a drop-off already, not factoring in what the difference would be after signing him.

The first guy can play up middle for you, the second guy probably is a 3B long-term.

Not to mention higher patience/make-up seems to have a huge impact on how close a player can get to his projected ratings.

I'd pick player 2.

Big difference between a 91 and 80 DUR.

My 2 cents

edit: didn't read the difference in college/high school scouting. I'd probably lean towards #1 then. Although, the DUR is a big difference maker for me.

The college player.

I wouldn't wager the #1 pick on a guy who might not be what his projections say he will.

Or, take an unsignable guy (not either of the two above) and hope for a better go at it next season?

I'd take the SP, whoever he is.
