d3 recruiting question-- finding monsters Topic

pertinent details

should have ~$11,000 to spend
A- prestige
DC area school

due to bad team management on my part (and bad recruiting last season) I have tons of bigs and SFs coming back, but will be useless unless we can find the best PG around who can start. I mean, I need one of those 1- or 2-a-season d3 guards who is high in SPD/BH/P, and terrible in D. PE is essentially a bonus, as we play triangle, and i have plenty of shooters already on the team.

so the question is, how do i go about finding the best PG around? do i just search the highest-rated guys I can see, then scout their states (or them as individuals)? or is there some sort of scouting strategy i should be using to find the right guys? and anyone know the odds of having a guy like this show at A- prestige, vs having to search d2 and pull him down/let him drop?

Personally, I'd start by using FSS to scout DC,Maryland and Virginia.
Getting a blue chip player is much easier within about 50 miles(at least that has been my experience).

For sure....and I would look at D2 players and D3 players and see who is the best guy you can find. I'd expect you to be able to sign any D3 player, so call the D2 guys first and see who is possible.

If you can spend $11k on a guy, one guy and promise him a start, you should be able to battle and win vs. a D or D+ or C- even maybe a C/C+ D2 school depending on distance.

just remember that you will most likely not be able to outspend a d2 school.

but suppose there's nobody great in the nearby states... what is the best way to find someone, money-wise?

I'm going to have to disagree with you on the D2 thing, reinsel. With an A- prestige if any D2 school is on them, they will sign them.

thedonger, since you do have money, and you have a specific setup you want, you should be able to look around, find the guy who suits you and then either FSS that state or spend some on SV. Since you need the cores now, potential isn't as important, but I'd still look for a backup with good potential to eventually take the reigns.

That's bold. I always scream for mom and dad to check for me.
