If you have a little green icon by your team in team center it means you either have a trade proposal or need to vote on one. Why do people not have the courtesy to respond? Even if I'm not interested, "alot of times I'm not" I at least respond.

Isn't a lack of response an acceptance?

Not everyone goes to their teams through the team center. Some go through the locker room. If you go that way you dont see the icon.

Definitely not. If the trade was proposed to your team, a lack of response means "no deal."

If it's in reference to a trade between 2 others teams that you are being asked to approve/veto, then a lack of response effectively means "approved."

I also have to say that while I generally respond to every trade offer, I'm increasingly inclined to just ignore an offer if I feel it's completely unreasonable. I'm just stunned at how many trade offers I get that are not even close to evenly balanced.

My philosophy when I make an offer is I want the initial offer to clearly benefit both teams. Then any haggling is just around the margins - ie swapping out 1 AAA infielder for another, or trading a future draft pick rather than a current draft pick in a progressive. I expect offers to me to be similar.

There are many owners in WIS whose trading philosophy seems to be "I'll make the initial offer lopsided in my favor, and then we can negotiate back to a more even deal."

I refuse to negotiate with those owners and just reject their trades outright. But as stated above, I'm increasingly inclined to ignore them. (clackumus, I am not implying that this is what you are doing or that this is why owners are not responding to you.)

I try to offer something of value for what I want in return. It's just frustrating when people just dont respond. I understand about the "lopsided" offer thing as I have been hit with some rediculous offers myself. I'm not a huge fan of "haggling" myself, but try to be flexible if I can help someone as well as myself.

I generally send a SM to inform people of my trade offer. People live busy lives and don't always check the manager center.

I always respond to the trade, whether or not I accept it, just to let people know what I am willing to part with.

As for negotiating... I love it. It's part of the fun of the SIM. Especially in Prog leagues.

If an owner has a lot of teams, there might be a whole bunch of those green transaction icons. Often, I don't click on all of them to see what they are, especially in leagues with a lot of good owners who do not make trades that warrant vetoes. Or if I see a dozen or more of them from various leagues and am short on time. So sending a sitemail to let someone know a trade has been proposed can be a good idea. I've had owners ask why I hadn't respond to a trade offer that I didn't know had been made.

If refusing a reasonable offer, it would be common courtesy to reject it rather than simply not respond. But I agree that it's fine to skip that courtesy when someone makes a ridiculous offer. Sometimes, I wonder whether an owner just sends out 20 lopsided deals hoping someone not paying attention will accidentally accept one of them.

1. they're not paying attention. they've lost some interest in this team and are putting their attention on other leagues, or other hobbies.

2. they're not as serious about this game as you are.

3. they're too busy. maybe they havent checked in for awhile.

4. they just dont feel like it. not always a simple process to evaluate it and look for counteroffers.

5. they're procastinators. "I'll get around to it later"

6. they dont like trades. some people have posted negative attitudes toward trading and these people are more likely to ignore trade offers.

... and many other reasons.

I was referring only to the latter scenario.

A good rule of practice, that I follow as well.

When I get an lopsided unsolicited trade offer, I just counter with an even more ridiculous offer and add the note, "see? I can make ridiculous trade offers too!"

I only send lopsided trade offers to boogerlips
