Injuries: For or Against? Topic

I'd like to revise my answer a bit here. Still against injuries and against academics in the game as its a bit of a crapshoot while relatively unnecessary, however EEs and transfers are probably good for the game. I'm not that familiar with EEs having never played at D1, but it seems like it could use some work. Some guys would definitely leave early if they were good enough for the League. Transfers are good for the game as well...they prevent super teams, but I think players should have some sort of a listed expectation in their profile as opposed to just abiding by the class minute expectations. This happens to a degree with one of the recruiting options...I'm not exactly sure which one it is because I don't use it much/at all lol, but I think it would be better to see it listed in the player profile. Just wanted to clear a few things up.

i guess i am for injuries... as long as there is strategic value..

that is, DU must mean something and coaches will have to decide on strategic tradeoffs. also, i think that players who "played tired" have been a bit more prone to injury and i think that is also good as it is a strategic tradeoff.

I would even be okay with the suggestion that was offered earlier of "more injuries" ... but i dont like it when an injury affects a players ratings (especially when it doesnt make sense like a shoulder injury hurting his speed)... and the issue that this brings up is... any of the issue that hurt depth like injury or EE put an unfair burden on Fastbreakers becuase you need so much depth to run that offense.

Injuries must be a part of the game! If you are not for them, go play NCAA 2K10 in the safe mode!!

yes vote for injuries.

i love injuries, adademics, early entries, progression surprises, upsets - anything that adds variance. i likely would not play the game without these things.

if you could predict everything, what would be the point? basketball is not chess - the best move does not and should not win every single time - but it does increase your chances. that balance between skill and random chance is what makes the game enjoyable. more than half the fun is sweating the next game/season/recruiting period/whatever not knowing for sure what's going to happen, even though you probably do know what's likely to happen.

i'm dumbfounded that some people are adamant about wanting less variance. i think WIS is doing an okay job as is, but i'd definitely prefer more.

I remember too well a couple of years ago when there was an injury glitch and suddenly too many players were being injured for too long. It killed my D-I career in Allen.

I was in a make or break season in the MAC and had a 15-2 record, ranked in the top 20, RPI around 30. Then in 3 successive games I lost my starting PG and ALL of my big man subs. Only one of them was back by the CT. I finished the season with a Fr. PG and 2 bigs. We won 1 game the rest of the season and were one and done in the CT and didn't even make the PI.

The RPI wound up in the 130's, I believe, and with key seniors graduating, the next season we were around .500 and I was gone. I needed that NT shot to keep the career going. CS admitted the glitch, but it was TS for me.

Any tears for me?

Didn't think so.

Screwed up my favorite HD career. I Allen after season 27. Went back for one season in #37 to my original D-III team, but my heart wasn't in it. Broken!

Hate injuries.

No
The following quote was made by Sable.

"One change that I want to mention is that durabilty will play a bigger part in injuries in the next SimEngine, so plan accordingly. You may want to start looking harder at durability. We're not planning on drastically changing the frequency of injuries, but we do want durability to be meaningful."

I believe they've already started changes to injuries. This past season in Phelan there was a rash of injuries, including one to the Big10's player of the year, PG Ackerman of tdvy's Michigan team right before the NT, along with at least one more of his players. He was "in jeopardy" and very lucky he had already sealed an NT appearance before this happened.

If there is going to be no increase in the frequency of injuries, how does one explain how my senior point guard got injured THREE SEPARATE TIMES this season for Wabash in Rupp? His low durability resulted in him missing about 6 OOC games and playing injured for another 5 games after coming back, then injury #2 resulted in him playing injured another 5 or so games. When he was finally healthy, we made a run to the conference championship game, only for him to get injured yet again, only 6 minutes into the game.

If we're going to introduce a randomness that can drastically effect the game that we have no control over (and there seems to be a tremendous difference of opinion on this), why not also introduce crappy officiating as a variable? Ref "Moe" absolutely HATES the Tarheels coach, so he'll call ticky tack fouls and fouls at the buzzer, etc. against UNC. Or, one ref crew calls games tight, another lets them play with a lot of contact (favoring one style of play over the other). How about kids getting arrested for DUIs or weapons charges? Let's throw that randomness in there. Didn't it used to be in there? How about a point shaving scandal causing your team to be put on probation and lose all scholarships EVEN THOUGH YOU DID NOTHING WRONG. That's random and like real life. But I think my best idea is that there should be a randomness of whether WIS GETS TO KEEP OUR MONEY PAID FOR A SEASON. If WIS can **** on our season with some BS injury, why not throw in a randomness that we can **** on their profit margin with random refunds? Just some thoughts.
