I know where I'm supposed to put this guy:
94/83/57/58

But if I already have sufficient defense in CF, am I better playing him at 2nd? Or shoud I put my current 86/81/59/55 CF at 2nd base?

that of course depends on whether he is LH or RH

Id put the first guy in CF, the 86/81 at 2nd.

You could put either of them in LF too.

Assuming your current CF throws righty, he would be better used at 2B with your first guy in CF.

Of course, that depends on your current 2B and all their relative hitting abilities... but that's not really what you asked.

Thanks.

The question just stemmed from me wondering, I guess, where the most balls were hit. CF is a bigger space, but if it sees 1/4 the action, playing the numbers game...

Look at the RF stats for all your players. You'll see where most of the balls are hit.

Also, you'll want to see how your players' ratings compare to the recommended.

The farther above, the better they'll perform.

I was given advice a few months ago to put a stud fielder at CF instead of 2B. I have no idea why people said that, 2B seems to get far more chances and I now have the best defense in my world.

Given two above average defenders, I've often thought that while 2B gets ~2x the chances as CF, you have a diminishing return due to the baseline for the position. At least in terms of range & glove... I think a good arm can make a MUCH more significant impact at 2B than CF.

A good anything makes the more significant impact at any position that gets more chances.
