a question about 3 point shooters. Topic

iv read about how 3 point shooters can shoot well --and go all Jodie Meeks on teams game after game

i was wondering how this translates between the divisions. iv seen it done well in the Div 3, has anyone used a 1,2 or 3 player rotation of 3 point shooters at a higher level. and been successful?

Nah. It'll never work

It can and has worked. Wisconsin, Parkside in D2 Phelan uses that technique and in the last three seasons has went: Final Four, National Champion, Championship game loss.

Redneck1 used it at St. John's in D1 Tark, and although he didn't win any titles, was a fixture in the big dance. I'm sure there are plenty of other examples, those are just the two that came to my mind the quickest.

I think that it gets a little less effective as you move up, but it's definitely a viable strategy, if you want to call it that. Personally I think it's weak (and quite easy to defend against. In fact, I don't think I've ever lost to one of those teams yet but it's coming, I'm sure), but it's a strategy in the game that some coaches have chosen to use. Not very realistic in my opinion, but definitely within the parameters of the game.

what do u guys think about this with my team in IBA? i have multiple great 3 point shooters.

They definitely are shooting well, but that could very possibly be due to playing weaker competition. An SOS of 274 means that you've played the third weakest schedule in all of D2. They're solid D2 players, but I would be hard pressed to call them "great". Just being truthful......

That being said, I'm just not sure that your bigs would be able to hold up their end of the deal. A couple of them have nice REB numbers, but I don't think that their athletic enough to REALLY make this a viable strategy for you. It may work for the rest of the regular season because I see you've got a fairly soft schedule, but I think it would doom you in the NT when you start facing better teams.

Like I said earlier, just my honest assessment/opinion........

Just a note about UWP in Phelan, they are and odd example because it seems he goes with a balanced approach all the way through the regular season and then once he gets to the NT he switches his distros greatly. Makes him hard to plan for because you have it in the back of your mind that he just may decide to be balanced for that game. I guess that's why he's had so much success the last 3 seasons and prevented me from having a little more success, lol.

That's my mistake, I thought he ran the "Bing" system all season. Okay, maybe that wasn't the best example.

When I said odd, I didn't mean odd for you to use them as an example, meant it as it's odd in the way UWP goes about installing the strategy. Most people tend to go with 1 strategy the whole season and minor adjustments from game to tame while UWP while make rather bold and major adjustments at the most important time of the season.
