Quick Questions from a New Coach Topic

So I'm a new coach in Wooden (Colorado) and we are in the recruiting cycle right now. I have 5 scholarships this year and with 5 seniors will have 5 next year. I focused mostly on athleticism, speed and defense in my recruiting.

I'm planning on sticking around for a while and doubt my team will have much success this year anyway. Considering this, and that at least ten members of my team are new by next season and almost all have good athleticism, speed, and stamina, is it worth considering switching to a fastbreak offense or press defense...

(Currently running motion and M2M, defaults for Colorado)

If you want to switch offense or defense, this is the ideal time. You probably won't make the NT this season but when your 10 players are JRs and SOPHs, you'll reap the benefits.

If you see that you have a chance to make the NT or PIT, however, you might reconsider. If you can improve your prestige this season, you'll see better recruits next time.

If I were you, I would keep motion and goto Man/Press combo, then eventually phase to press if you want. I don't love running press, but I am one of the few.

Press is easy to exploit, IF you have the better/deeper team. Press is good for beating weaker teams though.
