I think picking up bad teams and fixing them is the most fun part of the game.

Obviously everyone has their own opinion on what makes the game fun.

Powers, which is the new world I commish, has some pretty awful teams. Overall talent is way less than an existing world.

The point is, if you start with a horrible team in an existing world, you can build a viable ml team through free agency and rule v relatively easily.

If you lose the lottery in a new world, and are weak on both vets and prospects, theres not a whole hell of a lot you can do. IMO its easier fixing a wreck in an existing world than the new ones because there is way more competition for a weaker FA pool in a new world.

I have a team in Ron Cey that I got on the major downswing, so I ended up running the team through its darkest days (at also should be noted that I was a new GM at those times, so I did make some bad decisions that slowed my rebuild). But that said, I am more invested in that team than any other I have had (3 other teams). Plus, because a rebuild isn't generally a quick process, you start to really get involved with other owners and learn their teams as well (not to as a thorough extent, obviously).

What I'm getting at here, is fixing a team and building it around your style, your way is easily the best way to enjoy all facets of this game. Take my word for it, I have an overall losing record, and yet am completely addicted to this game, and spend countless hours a day on the site.

With a new world, not all teams are created equal. That is the common misconception that people who have never played in a world from season 1 on have about this game. If you want a team that is decent, then just wait for one to open up in a world that has already proven itself not to be a total 'tard world. Its actually pretty easy to pickup teams with 80/90 wins. You just have be selective.

And as an owner who's only had a couple seasons of experience, combined with wishy-washy committment, no offense, but you should not even be thinking about being a commish. Very bad idea...

the best thing about a new world is the day after the world is generated, it's like chriswtmas morning, and unwrapping your presens, but even then they are not always good, sometimes you get a lump of coal, I have seen teams get no ML SP and a crap load of catchers

Not to mention you can get stuck with bad long-term contracts and budgets still start off at the default. People want to feel like their team is something they have nursed since infancy, but I think most people would agree that you don't really feel like its your team until the players you draft and IFAs you sign end up taking over at the ML level and you start attaining some level of success. That happens whether the world is new or 15 seasons old
