Yeah I think UConn women would beat 99% of the boys HS teams. Maybe something like Oak Hill Academy whos HS front line goes 6'8, 6'10", 7'0" would beat them, but a normal team from a school of a couple thousand kids would get crushed. Like my old HS was 2nd place in the state of Wisconsin this past year. I watched the title game. THey would get killed by UConn's superior shooting, team defense and ball handling. Their front line was only 6'1", 6'3", 6'4" though.

I've played with some female college guards in men's pickup games, and they can play. Sure, they can't drive and score in the lane like men, but a 5'10" PG isn't supposed to do that. On defense, dribbling, shooting perimeter shots, etc, they is just as good as a man. And most of the women learned playing vs. brothers so they know how to get a shot off to avoid getting blocked.

Really? You think its good that an offense full of mediocre guards who can't pass or shoot can beat a more talented but somewhat less athletic team in the current engine? Right now a very good passing, ball handling, and shooting team with average speed and athleticism will lose to a very fast and athletic team with average ball handling and below average passing and perimeter, all other things being equal. You want the track stars to consistently beat the basketball players?
I actually think even in real life if 1 team dwarfs the other in athleticism and speed and are average in the skill areas they would win a pretty large % of the time. For example I'm sure if the UCONN's women's team played the best boys high school team in the country they would lose a good % of the time despite being more skilled because the high school team would be so much faster and more athletic.
Just look how close OKC took the Lakers if you want to talk althleticism and speed vs good fundamentals

And yet, the "fundamental" team won 4 of 6 games. Personally, I don't think that would happen in HD. Hopefully the new engine takes this into account because the game now is all about track stars.

i didnt see this either in d2 spd still kills

Well> I have a team without 'great cores' using press now. I guess we can see if it somehow makes me invincible.

Who is pretty athletic in his own right.

He was....but Kobe is slowing down. Lot of miles on those knees. He has made deep playoff runs 10 times it seems and has been in the association since he was 18. 1000 games I bet he's played. He is craftier and picks his spots.

Let's not pretend the Lakers aren't athletic, and also the Lakers have something that isn't accounted for in this game and that's size and strength. While you could make the argumen that OKC was more athletic at every position except shooting guard, LA was bigger and stronger at every position.

I don't think that size and strength are not in this game, they just aren't called size and strength. Size would play under rebounding and block ratings in my mind, and strength is in under athleticism I feel, which is why it is important for big guys to be athletic or they get pushed around and can't defend or finish in this game as well as more atletic guys.

Any of the top 10 HS teams would beat the UConn womens team. No question about it.

Just looked it up. Number 10 school in USA Super 25 was Mater Dei from CA. They have a PG going to Cal, a SG going to UCLA, and a SF going to ASU. Makes me more confident in my previous statement.

I agree with this, when I was a sophomore in high school my high school had 10 kids who eventually went to a division 1 school and we were only the 4th or 5th best school in the NYC catholic league, and I'm sure if we played the #1 women's team they would've had a very hard time beating us. Although I'd say that team would be more skilled the athleticism and speed we had would be extremely tough for whoever the #1 women's college team was that year to keep up with us.
