I just jumped back in with a team which has no recruiting slots open - I was just going to wait a year so I could look at the sort of recruits other players picked up before trying the 'new' recruiting myself(ie, new engine, new balance of recruits, etc) - but I was wondering, if I cut one player would $1,700 be enough to sign somebody closeby?

If there is even a reasonable chance I would cut a player and give it a go.

If it were me, and I really wanted to cut the guy, I'd think $1700 would be fine, but you'll be flying blind without FSS. Don't battle and be patient.

Disclaimer: I'm terrible at recruiting.

$1700 is fine but, with only 1 slot, you definitely can't get in a battle. You could wait until after the signing date; there's less chance of competition then.

Yeah. Just was going to add something as filler, perhaps. Probably cutting a player regardless, just deciding if I can possibly fill it with something other than a walkon. And yes, I realize I probably shouldn't have given out the amount of money.

As a new coach, everyone gets the same amount/recruit. So it's pretty easy to figure your budget. That shouldn't cause a problem

Yeah> I was going to wait until other people started signing what they wanted and then try to sign something really close by just to fill a slot. If it was somethign in a Juco or transfer, so much the better. just somethign to occupy the slot temporarily and rebalance the classes.

Unless, that is, you consider this player to be worth anything? (Sophomore)

Cut him. As a shooting guard, he's much too slow.

Wait until you're ready to recruit before purchasing the FSS. It's cheaper once players have started to sign

Yeah.<G>

I'm not NEW new. I did play several seasons many seasons back. I played in my head with trying him at SF< but I really don't think its worth it. I have better SF candidates anyway.

Good perimeter, not bad BAll handling and defense is all he has going for him, and I don't think thats really enough.

If you want to experiment at SF, look at your center, Newman. With that 29 REB, he'll never be a front line player. But his PER of 32 might work at SF

Allready considering.

Would you take this:
PLayer #1

Athleticism 41
Speed 39
Rebounding 29
Defense 41
Shot Blocking 54
Low-post 32
Perimeter 32
Ball Handling 16
Passing 35
Work Ethic 56
Stamina 69
Durability 31

Or this:

Player #2

Athleticism 28
Speed 55
Rebounding 19
Defense 59
Shot Blocking 31
Low-post 22
Perimeter 30
Ball Handling 21
Passing 49
Work Ethic 52
Stamina 74
Durability 38

As the backup SF for a FB/press(THat is the offense and defense I inherited, and the recruit knows those two as well) Are the extra 16 speed points a trump for running in a fb/press?(Yes I am learning and switching to a different set, but as I allready have IQ's in FB/press, I am going to run it for now)
