Why is our shooting percentage so poor?

The things that stand out are that you really only have one passer who is above average, meaning you might not be getting that many open looks. You also have a lack of ATH in your shooters, which is arguably the most important skill to have a good shooter.

Also BH is more important than you would think for shooters, which is probably one reason that Speller doesn't shoot very well, even though at first glance you might think he'd be your best outside shooter. Almost all my SGs with bad BH skill numbers have been poor shooters.

Most of the above is grasping at straws though. The bottom line is that in HD, it is very difficult to predict how shooters will perform. I could fill a lot of teams with the great SGs I've had that shot 30% during their JR or SR seasons.

Thats what I chalked Speller up to, bad BH and upperclassmen slump. But Jean my starting C is only shooting 38%. And my two PFs are in the low 30s. Those are the things that kill me.

true that mniven, I don't know why I get excited about sr's anymore, it seems they always shoot worse then when they were underclassmen...no rhyme or reason to it..I just lost in the NT to a team with one guy with 60 perimeter and one guy with 56 perimeter and their ath really really low. They preceded to go 13-17 from behind the arc.....

My #1 guess is that you're playing against good defenders - your SOS is 4, for the love of God, you're not gonna be shooting .450.

I'm with cornfused on that point. You are playing a tough schedule which means even a decent team is going to have poorer shooting on some nights.

I would send your offense through Pierce and try to get him 20%+ of the shots when hes out there if not more. With Jean and Weis underneath the basket they should be able to get some of his misses and put them back in. Also set him to -1 most likely so that he is driving more and not jacking up 3pts.

you have a 1 SOS. You have a pretty good team, but you are playing against premier defensive teams.

I would also like to mention that you are playing a press with low stamina - that is big killer to FG%
