I know in the past it's been a popular strategy to apply the redshirt and then if the player has a WE drop, remove it and try again. I recruited a SG who was ranked something like the #77 SG who I'm trying to RS. I have two senior SGs right now on my team (although one was academically ineligible his first season), but the SG still won't accept the RS. The first time I tried it was a WE drop of 32. I removed it and retried after the first exhibition game. This time I got the message
"Coach, just wanted to touch base on your decision. While I realize it's your program, I think it was the absolute WRONG call.
I just don't think it's cool that you didn't say that I would be looking at a redshirt season when I got here.
I mean seriously, make up your mind already - first you want to redshirt me, then you don't then you do...do you need some syrup to go with those waffles?
Jason"
That last paragraph seems new to me. He also had a WE drop of 52 this time. Have they killed the keep-trying-to-RS-till-it-works strategy?
