Type A FA - Limit? Topic

I have a decent squad this season. A probable playoff team, but not a great one.

I believe I have FOUR players that will be Type A free agents next season based on their ratings. (pretty certain about this)

Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Is it possible to have that many type A's? Should I look to trade 1-2 of these guys now?

Any help advice would be appreciated. I can post links to 4 players, but not too concerned about them in particular, just the topic I mentioned.

the draft would have to be VERY deep for it to be worth it. i had 3 type As and a type B this season, and now i'm wondering what i was thinking with not making some move with one of them.

Well, if Ford league, i just had a similar situation. I had 5 type A's and 1 type B. They were all signed. I managed to snag the 20th, 24th, 41st, 44th, 45th, 46th, 47th, 59th, 89th and several other around the 120 range.

I stocked up my minor league positional players and grabbed a future star closer/RP.

I'd say it's worth it if A) You're trying to compete for a WS the year before (which i was...and lost in the WS. B) if you've floated out some of those type A/B's and didn't get much of a response and C) if you think you have a competitive team the next year (the year that the FA's are on the market).

why not resign them?

That's a great question dherz. One, a 2B, is a stud and I love him. He won't re-sign at the moment, I will try after season to see if he changes his mind.

Another one, a LF, is getting older and I don't want to waste the $ when I have other people that could take his place.

The other 2 are both RP. Both rated almost 80 overall. I have great young RP waiting to step in, though I may re-sign 1.

BUT - that brings another questions. What is better, to re-sign someone or get 2 picks for them?

if your record was poor the year before, you're more likely to get higher picks because of the ill-informed way WIS does the picks.

One season in Mordecai I had like 9 Type A free agents, however most of them were the Type A's that most teams would not be willing to give up a first round pick, and something like 3 of them signed with other teams, and I end up signing most of the remainder to short term cheap contracts.
