Weird line-up issue Topic

I sent a ticket in on this but maybe you guys will see what I am missing.

Here is the boxscore from my am game today:

http://whatifsports.com/slb/Boxscore.aspx?gid=11828564&pid=1&pbp=0&tf=10

My lineup is set to have Clark hit 8th and DH with Willie McGee hitting 9th in CF. However, my lineup had Clark 8th but in CF and SP Tim Hudson(not this game's starter) hitting 9th as the DH.

McGee is at 100%. Clark is not even on my depth chart for CF. Hudson is certainly not on my DH depth chart.

What am I missing?

what is McGee's autorest? if he was below it and no one else was available... maybe that's it?

Did you have lineup set for both vs LHP and vs RHP?
5/21/2010 10:26 AM
Both lineups were set. McGee's autorest was at 98. He is at 100 now, so maybe he was below. I was resting some guys for fatigue, so maybe there wasn't anyone on the depth chart available. However, McGee % was higher than Clarks' going into the game. Wouldn't the sim choose the more rested player? I'm sure I somehow caused this myself. I just can't figure out how.

This just happened to me as well. It occured on 5/20 pm game. Jim Leyritz was supposed to catch and bat 9th. Instead he ended up at DH and in the second spot. I thought it somehow my mistake as well, but now it looks like it might be a sim problem. Im not sure how to put in a link, but here is the game. http://www.whatifsports.com/slb/Boxscore.aspx?gid=11822870&pid=1&pbp=0&tf=10

My DH was wrong again in my pm game. This time at least a position player was made the DH.

The Sim is putting my DH in the position of the 9th hitter and choosing a player off the bench to bat 9 and DH.

Very odd. I'm curious as to how Admin will respond.

I'm in 2 DH leagues that began recently. I checked pitcher hitting stats in both, and found that Bob Gibson had started one game as a DH in one of the leagues.

Otherwise, it looks as if the lineups have been okay in both leagues (at least as far as my teams are concerned).

Here's the response from my ticket:

Mcgee wasn't at 100%. He was at 95% with an auto rest setting of 98%. That would be the reason he didn't play. There were other players on the roster that were also below their 'rest' setting. Thanks.

This makes sense, I guess. I always have my rest settings at 98 and have never had this issue before. The bigger question, in my mind, is why the sim chose a SP who started the previous day to DH. If it had to use a pitcher, I had other, more rested, pitchers.

Oh well. I will lower my rest levels and hopefully that will do the trick.

I'm fairly certain that fatigue doesn't effect a pitcher's batting performance.

In that case, I guess Hudson makes the most sense then. As the previous starter, he was the least likely pitcher to pitch in the game. I learned something new today.

Useful info. So it would be possible to completely tank the DH position and have your pitchers bat instead? Not sure if it would be worth it, but if you're ever in a position where you simply can't afford a DH, maybe...

In a DH league, then, it may be worth the extra salary of the better hitting pitchers, because you then could skip paying for a DH? am I correct in thinking that? or am I missing something?
5/22/2010 12:05 AM
That's how it appears to work. The only thing is, I don't know if you'd have any control over which pitcher gets tapped to pick up a bat.

According to the follow-up from admin, in a case like this it chooses the previous games starter.
