Just trying to get a feel for how everyone does this, in the playoffs, do you shorten your rotation? 4 man? 3 man? or do you leave it as is? Thanks.

I cut down to 3 if possible, using a 4th only if bnone of my top 3 will be at 100% for the next game.

+1.

You also gain an advantage because if your 5th starter is any good, he now becomes a good option for you at Long Relief A.

I cut down to a 3-man rotation, with my 4th guy being my LongA and as needed starter. I will pitch them on less than 100% depending on their stamina. A 90 stamina guy can pitch at 90%, especially in a must-win situation.

I usually have a lot of my relief pitchers on rest and only take them off in-case of disaster the game prior. I don't want a shotty SuB coming in and blowing a 5 run lead in the playoffs, and most of my relievers have the durability to pitch in multiple back-to-back games.

As has been said, shorten the rotation to your top 3. You may need a 4th to start 1 game in a 7 game series if you get that far. Your 4th/5th starter can be moved to the bullpen.

In addition, you can adjust your playoff roster by removing your worst bullpen guy and adding a useful position player (i.e. defensive replacement, power off the bench, pinch runner, 3rd catcher if you want to DH a C, etc). You won't need the extra bullpen guy since you are moving to a 3/4 man rotation and you never know what might help in a tight playoff series. I've won multiple playoff games before when a pinch runner that spent the season in AAA comes in off the bench and steals a base that leads to the winning run.

I think this is something that gets overlooked. I use 12-13 pitchers in the regular season. I don't think I've ever used more than 11 in the post-season. Drop a couple of BP guys and add two "specialty" players. I won my first WS in the bottom of the 9th when a D-replacement(who got about 30-40 BL AB as a call-up) got a hit, stole a base and scored on a single.
